ＷＯＮＤＥＲ： Women’s Organization for Nanotechnology in DNA for Engineering and Research
Co-Founders: Anjelica Kucinic, PhD and Julie Finkel, PharmD

Our goal with WONDER is to promote equality within DNA nanotechnology. This goal includes 4 main missions: 1) build a 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻, 2) 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 women in DNA nanotechnology, 3) provide 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 and 4) 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 to join the field.

Accordingly, we want to incorporate core values that define who we are as an organization that are equally important:

◆ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 which allows us to be our best selves and incorporate behaviors that make everyone feel welcome and deserving of their place in this field.

◆ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 by valuing diversity and equality through accessibility to the field by being open to all backgrounds (racial, sexual orientation, academic training, life experience, etc.).

◆ Build a network founded on 𝗺𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 by striving to have a supportive environment and trustworthy network.

◆ Lastly, we 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 women from all paths, backgrounds, and ambitions.

About Us

Anjelica is a current Postdoctoral researcher working with Gaëtan Bellot’s team at the Centre de Biologie Structurale in Montpellier, France. She graduated with her PhD in Carlos Castro’s group at Ohio State University.

Julie is a current PhD student working with Gaëtan Bellot’s team at the Centre de Biologie Structurale in Montpellier, France. She graduated with her PharmD from Universite Toulouse Paul Sabatier.
